The Framework
Horticultural therapy uniquely addresses all five recognized dimensions of wellness simultaneously — cultivating lasting transformation at every level of the human experience.
Gardening stimulates memory, concentration, problem-solving and learning. Sensory-rich plant activities sharpen attention and nurture mental acuity.
Tending living things reduces cortisol, eases anxiety and depression, and fosters a profound sense of accomplishment, hope, and self-worth.
Group garden programmes build community, belonging, and communication. Shared stewardship of nature cultivates connection and mutual care.
Adaptive gardening tasks improve fine and gross motor skills, strength, coordination, and overall physical function across all ages and abilities.
Witnessing growth cycles in nature fosters awe, meaning, purpose, and connection to something larger — nurturing the inner life and sense of place.
Our Offerings
Five signature programmes adaptable to your setting, goals, and season — delivered with care by a registered horticultural therapist.
A structured eight-session programme for individuals managing stress, anxiety, burnout, or grief. Through guided planting, tending, and reflective journaling, clients develop mindfulness practices anchored in the rhythm of nature. Activities are adapted for indoor or outdoor settings and all experience levels.
Designed for HR teams and employee wellness programs, this corporate package brings horticulture directly into the office. Options include lunchtime terrarium workshops, team herb garden builds, and monthly plant care sessions proven to reduce workplace stress, boost morale, and foster psychological safety.
A six-week small-group programme (4–8 participants) for people in recovery, seniors, or those experiencing social isolation. Participants co-create and tend a shared container garden, building social bonds and daily purpose through the shared language of growing things. Available in Toronto community spaces and care facilities.
Perfect for events, team retreats, or curious newcomers. Our half-day and full-day immersive workshops explore sensory garden experiences, floral arranging, and guided nature walks through Toronto's ravine system. Available as one-off events or as a seasonal three-part series for individuals or corporate groups.
Our fully virtual hydroponic programme guides you through every stage of soil-free growing — from choosing your first system to harvesting your own food at home. Delivered through live video sessions, step-by-step guides, and an ongoing support community, this programme makes therapeutic horticulture accessible year-round, regardless of season, space, or ability. Designed for individuals and small corporate wellness groups alike.

Voices from the Garden
After my burnout, I was skeptical that anything could help me reconnect with myself. Eight sessions with The Growing Room and I genuinely feel like I'm growing again — literally and figuratively.
We brought The Growing Room in for a quarterly wellness day and the response was incredible. Our team is still talking about it months later. We've now booked an ongoing monthly programme.
The Green Roots group gave our residents something to look forward to each week. The friendships that formed around that little container garden were genuinely moving to witness.
